Operation22 is an action initiative sponsored by WordWinds International, a missions organization dedicated to the support of national missionaries laboring in foreign countries to translate the beloved Word of God for peoples who don't have the Bible in their natural tongues.

Each New Testament translation has a single purpose: to reach people for the Gospel who have never heard it before. This work is quite literally pressing into new territory, untouched by the Gospel of Jesus Christ....until now!

Over an average period of ten years, WordWinds will cooperate with our Brazilian partner, Missão ALEM, to provide roughly $175,000 worth of funding towards a single New Testament translation.

That may seem to be an incredible amount of money, but it's not, and for two reasons.

1. The average cost of a New Testament translation organized and completed by an American worker overseas can easily cost 3x that amount. Some have been known to cost over a MILLION dollars! This is one reason why WordWinds chooses to support reputable national organizations and missionaries who are doing the work effectively and efficiently. (To read more about that, click here.)
2. The New Testament has 7,959 verses. That means that, broken down into cost by verse, the work can be completed for $22 a verse! Hence, Operation22. Nifty, huh?

So Operation22 is dedicated to recruiting members to fund the translation of single verse (or chapter). These members in turn recruit more members, who in turn do the same. The end goal? The complete translation of the New Testament in a previously unrecorded language.
